Violence and Bad Memory
The number of people who have suffered violence, is overwhelming I do not want to start quoting statistics (always make me want to lock me in a bunker with food), there's no age group, ethnicity, gender , etc., to be saved, but of course there are groups who are at greater risk than others.
But take adult males, in theory have greater physical strength (and be safer from aggression, but this group is which tops the list of violent death), they are often shown in the social imaginary as the bad guys, but really, adult males were children (vulnerable group) and will be elderly (vulnerable group), then a very privileged person it has been part of at least one vulnerable group.
Funny how we have short memories and instead of trying to better children by example and remember as we were teenagers, usually adult-back and let us hear the voice of the young. Survival
Well judging from the statistics many people roaming the streets has gone through as gringos say "Seriously fucked up crap," and many, many find ways to move forward, not without damage, of course, but human spirit often manages to find things to hold on to go ahead, after all, life is a tremendous loss and live submerged or in damage.

Following is the text of the article: "The keep on Living Series" of Katie Lee's fanzine Issue 3
HooplaThis series was inspired by my need, after a pause of 6 months, to reconnect with the cross stitch as a output for my creative energy (and sometimes manic and angry), and is evolving into what I hope is an extended series of related crafts.

Le Tigre
The momentum and urge you to all of you that / you have access to internet to check the link at the bottom, is based on Le Tigre's song "Keep On Living." It is very helpful, positive and inspiring for those / as they are coming out of the closet or are survivors of sexual abuse. kathleen Hanna says a lot that makes sense to me:
In healing from violence and abuse they have experienced is worth remembering that all / you are part of a larger community working to end violence. We links in the chain that make the world a better place each and every pair. It is not trivial nor individualist ending the war against all women starting with us. We need joy and need to be strong enough to change via aberrant why our "leaders" are leading us now.
Like music, crafts have the potential for serious change and positive. As a survivor. I'm not even comfortable sharing my experiences in most public forums. Cross stitch / point cross to me, provides a subtle but powerful way to give the message that I survived "Seriously fucked uo crap", or like so many other women (and men), I am immersed in the daily struggle of the process healing. I look forward to continue this series and see where it takes me ... stay tuned!
Notes, if you or someone you care about has survived sexual abuse, please remember that the healing process has no timetable or an expiration date, Educate, but do it at your own pace.
Stay Strong. KL
